PROJECT:
SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
Programs & Applications: HTML, CSS, Figma
This site’s purpose is to introduce the concept of “social determinants of health” to the general public. As there are many social aspects that affect the wellbeing of an individual, this website aims to give a digestible amount of information (without overloading on jargon). Instead, it will help understand how the most prominent social determinants can be understood through dividing them into four main categories: community-based, health-related, education-related, and environmental-related. The content is meant to be understandable resourceful for those who need support, as well as educating people regardless of their economic status. From the main graphic, the user will be able to interact with the various sections, and open up one of the four main categories to learn more details about each, including: facts (“did you know”), links to resources and support (linking to authoritative external links), a learn more section, and references listed below. The page shown with the draft content, wireframe, and visual mock-up is the main page with one section selected, in this case, health-care access. This helps illustrate the grid-based layout that will expand for each of the four main sections.

Justification of Competition Analysis
While credible websites currently exist, many of these websites refer to an organization’s pursuit of overcoming negative impacts of the social determinants of health. Additionally, while the general opening page for these sites are structured by relevancy according to their goals as an organization, the site mapping can become overwhelming when navigating to learn more about specific social determinants of health. Aside from this, there are parts that have been structured effectively, with use of infographics, and access to various resources within the page. As such, by learning of the methods that were used successfully and unsuccessfully by the developers of the websites, I will be able to better learn how to accommodate a user of the website I am putting together.
